NEMESIS - in Greek mythology the goddess of revenge, justice and destination (also called a woman without guilt and shame). She was in power to give humans happiness or failure, chasing criminals and deciding on their fate. Daughter of the Night (Nyx), considered to be wrath of gods. Nemesis lived in the city of Rhamnous, north of Marathon. She became the guardian of the the balance of the world, together with Erinyes. Nemesis was pictured as a woman holding a branch of an apple tree in one hand and a circle in the other. She was wearing a crown and a whip at the belt. The goddess has as attributes a measuring rod, a bridle, scales, a sword and a scourge, and rides in a chariot drawn by griffins.
